How to Wind the Mainspring

Self-Winding and Manual Winding

The mainspring naturally winds up when you perform your daily activities with the watch worn on your wrist (self-winding).

The mainspring can also be wound by turning the crown (manual winding).
To manually wind the mainspring, slowly turn the crown clockwise in its normal position (0 click).

TIP

  • If the watch has a screw-down crown, first unscrew the crown to unlock it.
After the required operations are complete, be sure to lock the crown again.

  • The crown spins freely if it is turned in the opposite direction.

If the watch stops

  1. Shake the watch or turn the crown to wind the mainspring and operate the watch.
  2. When the second hand starts to move, adjust the time and calendar.
  3. Continue to wear the watch on your wrist or perform manual winding to adequately wind up the mainspring.

TIP

  • If the watch has stopped, it can be adequately wound up by turning the crown about 30 turns.
  • The crown will still rotate when the mainspring is fully wound up. Use the scale marks on the power reserve indicator as a guide when winding.
