Precautions Regarding Water Resistance

Types of Water Resistance and Precautions

Check the water resistance indicator on the dial or back cover, and ensure correct use of the watch.

Indication (dial/back cover) Water resistance
No indication Non-water-resistant watch
WATER RESISTANT Water resistance for everyday life (3 ATM)
WATER RESISTANT 5 bar Extra water resistance for everyday life I (5 ATM)
WATER RESISTANT 10 bar/20 bar Extra water resistance for everyday life II (10 ATM/20 ATM)
DIVER'S WATCH 200 m Waterproof for scuba diving

WARNING

Watches with water resistance for everyday life (3 ATM) cannot be used underwater, such as when swimming.

These watches can withstand accidental contact with water, such as during face washing.

Watches with extra water resistance for everyday life I (5 ATM) cannot be used when diving, including skin diving.

They can be used for water sports other than diving, such as swimming.

Watches with extra water resistance for everyday life II (10 ATM/20 ATM) cannot be used when diving with air cylinders, or when saturation diving using helium gas, etc.

They can be used for diving without an air cylinder, such as skin diving.

Watches that are waterproof for scuba diving cannot be used when saturation diving using helium gas, etc.

They can be used when diving with an air cylinder (scuba diving).

CAUTION

For non-water-resistant watches, be careful of brief exposure to water or sweat.

If the watch is exposed to water or sweat, wipe it off with a soft, dry cloth.

Do not place under running water directly from a faucet.

Mains water has a very high pressure, and may cause failure of the water resistance even in watches with high water resistance.

Do not wear the watch when bathing or in saunas, or in other high-temperature and high-humidity environments.

Steam, soap, or minerals in hot springs may cause deterioration in water resistance, or cause rusting or malfunction. Furthermore, the watch may become hot, which may result in burns.

Do not operate the crown or buttons (for diver's watches, the crown only) when underwater or when the watch has water droplets on it.

Doing so may damage the water resistance and result in malfunction.
