Handling of Batteries
Battery Types
Two types of batteries are used in quartz watches—rechargeable and non-rechargeable.
Type | Non-rechargeable | Rechargeable |
---|---|---|
Battery type | Primary battery | Secondary battery |
Charging method | - | Solar recharging (Solar Powered) |
Battery replacement | Required (By specialist) | Not required |
Replacing Primary Batteries
Replacement of primary batteries requires special skills and tools.
Be sure to contact your dealer or our customer service center to request replacement.
CAUTION
- Replacing the battery yourself may result in debris and dust entering the watch, which may lead to the watch stopping, or compromising its water resistance. Furthermore, inserting the battery erroneously may lead to overheating or the battery bursting.
- If the watch is left with a flat battery for a long period of time, it may be damaged by liquid leaking from the battery. Have the battery replaced promptly.
- Batteries in purchased watches have been in use from the time that they were inserted into the watch when assembled at the factory (from before delivery). Accordingly, the battery may reach the end of its service life earlier than the continuous operating time detailed in the product specifications.
If a Battery Is Removed
Ensure that the removed battery is disposed of in accordance with local government regulations.
DANGER
- Do not leave the battery in a location within the reach of small children. There is a risk of accidental ingestion. If ingested, immediately seek medical advice.
- Never disassemble, heat, or throw the battery into a fire, even if the battery is flat, as doing so is very dangerous.
Handling of Secondary (Rechargeable) Batteries
Secondary batteries used in solar (photovoltaic) charging can be repeatedly charged and discharged.
They can be recharged by exposing the dial to sunlight or other light. These batteries do not need to be periodically replaced.
- Use and store the watch in a well-lit environment.
- If the watch stops, the battery may have no remaining charge.
Recharge by exposing the dial to light for several hours. Check that the hands are moving correctly, and reset the time.
TIP
In the event of the following, please contact your dealer or our customer service center.
- Decreased battery performance
The battery continuous operating time or charging efficiency may have decreased due to prolonged use or the usage environment. - Unable to recharge
If the battery is left for a long period of time with no remaining charge, it may be discharged and no longer able to be recharged.
